At least for the first year or two the entire race will be held inside Potato Creek State Park. The reason I say it like that is IF we out grow the park we do have several great options outside the park for future bike courses. But for now to keep things as safe as possible as well as logistically easier while putting less impact on area roads everything will be contained inside the park. A rectangle swim in a clear relatively shallow lake, a flat and fast bike course, 2 loops for long course athletes, and a great 8 foot wide groomed trail run on the hiking nature paths around the lake. This event has been coming for a long time, we started getting emails from athletes doing our events from Indiana saying "you got to check this park out" So thanks to all of you! It is honestly a beautiful park that is close to a perfect venue for this event. We have a great finish line set up as you come back off the nature trail between the lake/beach and transition area.

2010 was the inaugural race and as you would expect it has a few kinks to work out, which is the only reason why I am recommending the race- it should get better. Heard not so great things about D3's event planning, and they planned it the same weekend as a Notre Dame home football game! Someone flunked event planning 101. The park is gorgeous. Very flat, easy trail. The run portion should change a fair amount in 2011 as the trails were poorly marked and unknowledgeable volunteers were giving racers wrong directions. In addition some idiot from D3 was riding his bike on the narrow run paths through competitors which made no sense. Crap post-race food.
