From downtown South Bend to Notre Dame -- it's the 27th running of the Sunburst Races. All events are run on traffic-free city streets through South Bend & Mishawaka parks and neighborhoods. The course follows the St. Joseph River and finishes on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The marathon and half marathon courses are both USATF certified. The marathon is a Boston qualifier and a registered race of the Chicago Area Runners Association. We have great volunteers and the best food you'll find at any race! Join us for a wonderful run...and a memorable, moving finish.

This is a small marathon field (about 500 runners) however, I feel it is a great race for families because there is also a 1/2 marathon, 10k, 5k, and a walk. Plenty of water, gatorade, and GU on the race course (this is the first race where I did not carry anything with me). Also, the race started at 6am so we beat the heat!
